Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
- Your sound never leaves your network. It goes straight from your Mac to your iPhone, over your Wi-Fi.
- No account, no publisher server. The sound never goes over the Internet; only the optional purchase goes through Apple's App Store.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking.
1. Who is responsible
Hey!ko (for iPhone) and Hey!ko Link (for Mac) are published by Ahmed Ouzini, an independent developer. For any question about this policy: 4hm3du51v3@gmail.com.
2. What the apps do with your sound
Hey!ko Link picks up the sound your Mac plays and sends it to your iPhone over your local Wi-Fi network. Hey!ko plays it, then forgets it: the sound is never recorded, neither on the Mac nor on the iPhone, and it is never sent over the Internet.
Between your two devices, the sound is encrypted. Encryption keys are created at each pairing, stay in memory for the listening session, and are never stored. Another device on the same Wi-Fi can neither listen to this sound nor inject any.
3. What leaves the device
On your local network, and only there
What: the Mac's sound, encrypted; pairing (a key exchange and the check of the 4-digit code); your Mac's name, to show it on the iPhone.
To whom: only between your Mac and your iPhone, on your Wi-Fi.
Your iPhone's name, visible on your Wi-Fi
When: while Hey!ko is open.
Why: your iPhone announces itself on the local network (with the name you gave it in Settings) so that your Mac can find it. Other devices on the same Wi-Fi can see this name, as with a printer or a speaker.
The Internet: only Apple's App Store, for the purchase
When: Hey!ko (iPhone) checks with Apple's App Store at launch and on the purchase screen, to get the price and find out whether the purchase has been made; and when you ask to buy or restore your purchase.
To whom: Apple only. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple: the publisher receives neither your name, nor your address, nor your payment method.
The sound itself never goes over the Internet. Neither app connects to a publisher server, and Hey!ko Link (Mac) connects to nothing on the Internet.
4. What the apps keep
Only your settings and, on iPhone, the trial time already used — on the device itself:
- iPhone: whether you've already seen the welcome screen, and whether video mode is on.
- iPhone, trial time: the number of seconds already played during the 10 free minutes, kept in the iPhone's Keychain. Specific to this iPhone, it is never synced or sent to the publisher; it only makes sure the trial is given once.
- Mac: whether you've already seen the welcome screen, and whether "Only hear the iPhone" is on.
The pairing code changes after each use and is not kept. Your purchase status is kept by Apple, not by the publisher. The publisher has access to none of this: this information is never sent to him.
5. Permissions requested
You can withdraw each permission at any time in your device's Settings; Hey!ko then simply stops working, without losing anything.
- Local Network (iPhone and Mac) — so that your Mac can find your iPhone and send it the sound. Without it, nothing gets through.
- System Audio Recording (Mac) — so that Hey!ko Link can pick up the sound your Mac plays. It is read live to be sent to your iPhone, never recorded.
6. What the apps don't do
- No Hey!ko account or sign-in: the optional purchase goes through your Apple Account, with Apple.
- No ads, no tracking, no audience measurement or usage analytics.
- No selling or sharing of data with third parties.
- No access to the microphone, photos, contacts or location.
7. In-app purchase
The "Hey!ko Unlimited" purchase is handled by Apple, under Apple's own privacy policy. The publisher receives no personal data from it: no name, no address, no payment method.
8. Crash reports
If you have chosen, in your iPhone's or Mac's settings, to share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports on to the publisher. This is an Apple setting you can turn off at any time; Hey!ko adds no tracking tool of its own.
9. Retention and deletion
The sound is never kept. Your settings remain as long as the app is installed. On iPhone, deleting Hey!ko erases its settings, but not the trial time already used: it stays in the iPhone's Keychain, so that the free trial is only given once. Your purchase is kept by Apple: "Restore purchase" brings it back. On Mac, Hey!ko Link's settings stay in its preferences file after it is deleted; you can delete that file yourself.
10. Children
Hey!ko collects no personal data, including children's.
11. Your rights
Since the publisher holds no data about you, you alone stay in control of your information. For any question, write to the address given in section 1.
12. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page, with its update date.
